Kirchheim Advent and the Kirchheim Christmas market: our top recommendation

Just a few steps from the hotel, you can experience one of Carinthia’s most beautiful and authentic Advent markets: the Bad Kleinkirchheim Christmas market.

With lovingly decorated stalls, handmade crafts, traditional music, regional specialities such as Carinthian Reindling and mulled cider – and an atmospheric illuminated path for young and old alike.

Situated in the spa gardens, directly opposite the St. Kathrein thermal spa, this sparkling winter village enchants all visitors, young and old alike.

The Bad Kleinkirchheim Christmas market takes place over a total of 13 market days – from the 1st to the 4th Sunday of Advent, each week from Friday to Sunday. The first market day is 28 November. The market closes on 21 December.

And the Kirchheim Advent is far more than just a market. It is an invitation to experience the run-up to Christmas in its entirety.

A contemplative trail, the ‘Path of Warmth’, leads with its gentle light installations to St Kathrein’s Church, where masses accompanied by music invite you to pause and reflect.

There’s a packed programme for families: children’s eyes light up during walks with alpacas or in the craft room, where little works of art are created from natural materials. There are also plenty of other attractions, such as magic shows and face painting.
